I am not sure how other people manage, but the only technique I found that worked was to sweep and lift the mouse to sweep again to the side. Except that when fishing an epic fish you can apparently add 'smash mouse down' loud enough to wake up people (which I did). So I thought I would plug my PS4 controller in and see if it worked.
Keys:
1. Menu: Esc - Middle touchpad / Options
2. Movement: A S D W - Left stick
3. Camera: Mouse - Right stick
4. Jump: Space - Cross
5. Interact: F - Triangle
6. Turn on hat: 2 - Left key
7. Map: M - Top key
8. Ragdoll: X - Square
9. Emotes: F1: Bottom key
10. L1 and R1 seem to move the camera up / down for some reason
Once map is open, quest list: Q - Square
Land vehicles:
L2 breaks on a vehicle / R2 accelerates
Helicopter:
Up: E - Cross
Down: Q - Circle
I would need to check the vehicle we use in the lab to lift the pallets, which uses C and B on keyboard. I will try next time I am around there.
11. Share removes UI - I have not found that key on keyboard yet
Now to test this fishing:
Pull rod back: right click on mouse - R2
Cast rod: left click on mouse - L2
And it worked! Only a lot easier than using the mouse.
I almost forgot!
Grab left/right arms: mouse clicks - L2/R2
Interact with pet: Right key
The indications on screen are for the Xbox, but as long as you know which button to press you are fine, and if not you can find them from the menu
